What water extraction is

Water extraction is the removal of standing water and as much absorbed water as possible from floors and floor coverings, using professional extraction equipment. It's the fastest way to take the bulk of the water out of a building.

Getting liquid water out quickly matters because every hour it sits, more of it soaks into pad, subfloor, baseboards and the bottom of walls. Removing it first also makes the drying phase that follows more effective.

Extraction is usually only the first stage. Removing the visible water doesn't mean the building is dry. Water that has soaked into drywall, framing, subfloors and cabinets needs moisture detection, dehumidification and structural drying.

    Air movers and dehumidifiers dry the building materials themselves. Structural drying.

  4. Monitoring and documentation

    Readings are taken until materials are dry, and the work is documented. Full dry-out process.

Water extraction questions

Can my carpet be saved after water extraction?

Sometimes. It depends on the source of the water, how long it sat and the condition of the carpet and pad. Carpet and pad affected by sewage or outside flood water are generally removed.

Isn't a wet vac or carpet cleaner enough?

Those can remove some surface water, but a water loss usually also involves water in the pad, subfloor and walls. That needs moisture detection and structural drying, not just surface extraction.

Do you extract flood water and sewage?
