Flooding in the desert
Las Vegas gets little rain most of the year, but summer monsoon storms can drop a lot of water in a short time. Hard desert ground doesn't absorb it quickly, so runoff moves fast through streets, washes and low spots, and can push into homes and businesses.
Common ways flood water gets inside:

- Through windows, window wells and wall openings

- From yards and patios that slope toward the building

Why flood cleanup is different
Water from a clean supply line is one thing. Water that flowed across yards, streets and parking lots before coming inside picks up soil, debris and whatever else it touched, so outside flood water is generally treated as contaminated.
That affects the cleanup. Porous materials the flood water soaked, such as carpet, pad, the lower part of drywall and insulation, are generally removed rather than dried in place. Remaining surfaces are cleaned before drying.

Flood cleanup questions
Can flooded carpet be dried and kept?
Carpet and pad soaked by outside flood water are generally removed, because the water is treated as contaminated. Water from a clean indoor source is evaluated differently.
Do you repair the roof or regrade the yard?
No. We handle the water removal, cleanup and drying. Roof repairs and drainage work are handled by the appropriate contractors.
Do you rebuild after flood cleanup?
No. We focus on mitigation and dry-out. Once the structure is clean and dry, you can hire any contractor for repairs.
