Sewage Cleanup in Las Vegas

When a sewer line or toilet backs up into a home or business, the water involved should be treated as contaminated. We extract it, remove affected materials that can't be saved, clean affected surfaces and dry the structure.

Available 24/7 for residential and commercial sewage backups across the Las Vegas Valley.

What sewage cleanup involves

Sewage water is generally treated as black water, the most contaminated category of water loss. That changes how the cleanup is handled compared with a clean-water leak. Porous materials it has soaked, like carpet, pad and the lower portion of drywall, generally can't be dried and reused.

  • Extraction of sewage water and removal of solids
  • Controlled removal of affected carpet, pad, drywall, baseboards and insulation
  • Cleaning of affected hard surfaces and the structure left behind
  • Containment where needed to limit spread into unaffected areas
  • Structural drying and dehumidification
  • Moisture monitoring until the affected areas are dry
  • Photos and records of the work performed

What to do before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the affected area
  • Avoid direct contact with the water and anything it touched
  • Stop using sinks, tubs, toilets and appliances that drain to the backed-up line
  • Don't try to vacuum the water with a household vacuum
  • If water is near outlets or electrical equipment, stay out of the area
  • Take photos for your records if you can do so safely

Common causes of sewage backups

Main line blockagesRoots, grease or debris in the sewer line can push wastewater back up through the lowest drains.
Toilet overflowsA clogged toilet that overflows can soak flooring and travel into nearby rooms or units below.
Shared linesIn apartments and condos, a blockage in a shared line can affect several units at once.
Commercial drainsRestaurant and retail drains can back up into dining areas, kitchens and back-of-house spaces.

Clearing or repairing the sewer line itself is a plumbing job. Our work is the cleanup and drying once the source has been stopped. If the line is still backing up, have a plumber address it so the area isn't contaminated again.

Our sewage cleanup process

  1. Assess the backup

We confirm the source has been stopped, identify the affected rooms or units and check how far the water has spread under flooring and into walls.

  2. Extract and contain

Sewage water and solids are removed, and containment is set up where needed to keep the affected area separate.

  3. Remove affected materials

Porous materials that were soaked are removed through controlled demolition, typically including carpet and pad and the lower section of affected drywall.

  4. Clean affected surfaces

Remaining hard surfaces and structural materials in the affected area are cleaned before drying begins.

  5. Dry and monitor

Air movers and dehumidifiers dry the structure, and moisture readings are taken until the materials are dry. See our full dry-out process.

  6. Document the work

Photos, moisture readings and a record of the work performed are provided for your records and your insurance company.

We handle mitigation, not reconstruction. Once the affected area is cleaned and dry, you can choose any contractor to replace the removed materials.

FAQ

Sewage cleanup questions

Can carpet be saved after a sewage backup?

Carpet and pad soaked by sewage are generally removed rather than cleaned and dried, because they absorb contaminated water. Hard surfaces and structural materials can often be cleaned and dried.

Do you fix the sewer line?

No. Clearing or repairing the line is plumbing work. We handle the extraction, material removal, cleaning and drying after the source has been stopped.

Is sewage cleanup different from a clean water leak?

Yes. Sewage is treated as contaminated, so more porous materials are removed, affected surfaces are cleaned, and containment may be used. A clean-water leak can often be dried with fewer materials removed.
